Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs is preparing a new disaster alert system that uses sound waves to send messages. It was tested out on around 200 people in Chofu, Tokyo. The system will use sound waves to send alerts when the internet is down. The Ministry plans to unveil it for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
